SERC Postgraduate Top-Up Scholarship
Students with or without an approved APA, URS, or other competitive higher degree by research (HDR) scholarship are eligible to apply for a supplementary SERC scholarship. SERC top-up scholarships are paid in addition to the award funding provided by any other HDR scholarship. Students who do not have an HDR scholarship must include transcripts etc. in their application, as specified in the form. Students may apply for the SERC top-up scholarship while their HDR scholarship application is being processed, details of all scholarships applied for or held must be included in the application or notified in writing to SERC upon award.
Students receiving or applying for any other scholarship/s in conjunction with a SERC scholarship must notify SERC of full details as part of the application process. Explicit agreement by SERC is required to hold a SERC scholarship in conjunction with any other scholarship.
Applicants must fulfil the Masters or PhD admission requirements for the relevant university, including English language requirements.
Applicants must have a First Class Honours degree or equivalent and undertake Masters or PhD studies associated with one of the four SERC research programs.
Applications for an APA, URS, or other competitive higher degree by research scholarship need to be submitted directly to the relevant university.
Applicants must be prepared to enter into commercial confidentiality and intellectual property agreements if:
- their research topic requires access at any level to SERC facilities or those of any SERC partner or participant; or
- they intend to seek, as an extension of this award, a SERC-funded posting to Japan, USA or other international space research centres.
A$12,000 plus up to $3,000 of additional discretionary research fund (2016 rate) per annum (full time).
Successful applicants for APA, URS, or other competitive higher degree by research scholarships who are selected to work on SERC research projects will be prioritised for a SERC scholarship. A scholarship application form still needs to be submitted, references from the HDR application process can be submitted to SERC in lieu of the SERC reference requirements.
Applications for SERC top-up scholarships can be submitted at any time, however the scholarship selection panel will be meeting next to consider applications for 2018 semester one scholarships in late 2017 . The application forms are available here: http://www.serc.org.au/students/application-form/
